A local favourite, Pane & Pasta, burst into Restaurant Month with new recipes, a new wine list, and a new man at the helm. Francesco Piscopo will be a familiar face to many as he has spent 12 years in Cayman’s restaurant industry. He’s taken up the new position of Maître D at Pane & Pasta and has already established a fresh new rebrand to Camana Bay’s Italian corner.
Francesco comes from Bassano Del Grappa – an hour away from Venice. We were joined by Florence born Head Chef, Amedo Masala and, within the first 2 minutes of talking, our appreciation for one of the world’s most popular cuisines was reinforced.
FRANCESCO: To put it simply, we want to bring Italy to Cayman. I have fallen in love with this place I now consider home, and I am passionate about delivering an authentic dining experience – shining a light on all the different corners of Italy Pane & Pasta represents.
To be honest, I think people have been pleasantly surprised by some of our menu items. Yes, we have your Italian staples, but with exceptional staff from all over the country, why would we stop there? Our menus are influenced by so many different parts of our homeland – dishes and flavours some of our customers will enjoy here for the first time. Italian food is so diverse. It’s really important to us that we showcase this variety in as many ways as we can, especially now travel is so limited. We’re committed to bringing you the next best thing.
AMEDO: Every member of our team brings something different to Pane & Pasta. We are proud of the dishes we have developed from traditional, Italian recipes and love to share the stories behind them. You’ll find me here making the home-made pasta, sausage and mozzarella for your meal. I design dishes around my grandmother’s traditional recipes. The detail is important and you can taste the care that’s gone into the preparation.
Warm, hospitable, and every bit as passionate as we have grown to expect from Italian culture. After a quick stop to admire their meat and delicatessen counter, we returned to Restaurant Month HQ. But, not without a homemade, nutella-filled Bombolini in hand, courtesy of Chef Amedo.
Pane & Pasta is offering a fantastically varied 3-course Restaurant Month menu, at the even more fantastic price of $35 for dinner. Try it for yourself this October!
